On the second day of protests following Mykhailo Fedorov's sudden removal from his position as Defence Minister, thousands of Ukrainians gathered outside the presidential office. This unexpected move has sparked outrage among supporters who believe in his innovative approach to warfare.

Efforts to mend relations with Poland

In an attempt to address a significant diplomatic issue, President Zelenskyy announced steps aimed at repairing ties with Poland. During a meeting of senior officials, he committed to expanding investigations into the controversial naming of a Ukrainian army unit after fighters who killed Poles during World War II.

Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian targets

In response to ongoing military tensions, Ukrainian forces launched over 370 drones towards Moscow. A drone attack on a logistics centre in the town of Kotovsk in western Russia resulted in seven fatalities and 24 injuries. The governor of Tambov region reported that workers were killed when enemy UAVs hit the Wildberries logistics centre.

Russian crackdown on dissent

In an effort to suppress opposition, Russian authorities detained Ilya Remeslo for allegedly spreading false information about the Russian army and fined Boris Nadezhdin 1,000 roubles ($13) for displaying extremist symbols. These actions signal a warning to Kremlin critics as Russia faces increasing domestic pressure due to economic challenges.

Intensified Russian strikes on Ukrainian ports

The conflict in the Black Sea intensified with Russian attacks on two Ukrainian port cities, causing three civilian deaths and significant damage. Regional prosecutors reported that a drone attack on Mykolaiv's port infrastructure damaged several foreign-flagged vessels. Additionally, another strike near Odesa injured four crew members aboard a Marshall Islands-flagged vessel.

The increased intensity of these attacks has led to disruptions in grain shipments and grain purchases at Ukrainian ports. The situation highlights the ongoing challenges faced by both nations as they navigate this complex conflict.
