Attacks on Saudi Tankers in the Red Sea

Yemen's Houthi militia claimed responsibility for launching attacks against two Saudi Arabian oil tankers, the Encelia and Layla, in the Red Sea. The group said they targeted the vessels with a combination of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones as part of their ongoing naval blockade on Saudi Arabia.

The Encelia, a Saudi-flagged tanker, reportedly suffered damage when it transmitted a distress call via VHF radio, reporting being struck by a missile while operating near the outer port limits of Saudi Arabia's Jizan. A fire was confirmed on the bow of the vessel, though all crew members were reported safe.

Escalating U.S.-Iran Tensions

The attacks in the Red Sea coincide with a series of intensified strikes by the United States against Iran. These strikes, now at their 12th consecutive night, have expanded to include western and central parts of the country. The U.S. military reportedly targeted maritime capabilities, missile and drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance sites, and air defense assets.

Iran responded with its own attacks, including a recent strike on a bridge or power plant near Bushehr, marking three strikes in two days. Iranian state television reported that two people were killed and 11 wounded in this attack. The Houthi group has also warned ships to avoid Saudi ports, leading to the re-routing of several vessels.

The conflict between the U.S.-backed countries and Iran continues to cause significant disruptions, with thousands displaced due to ongoing violence. In response to Iranian attacks on military bases in recent days, President Trump attended a ceremony at Dover air force base for four service members killed.
