The race against Odira was a strategic exercise from the outset, with Bell leading from the start and maintaining her pace until the final stretch. As they reached the halfway mark, the field had covered 60.32 seconds. It was only during the closing stages that Bell accelerated to pull away by five metres. Her victory came in an impressive time of 1:59.51, nearly a second ahead of Odira.

In the men's javelin event, Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage dominated the field with an impressive throw of 89.75 meters, securing his first Commonwealth Games gold after a spectacular year.
