Key points:
- Detectives may visit the US to speak with Virginia Giuffre's relatives about her allegations.
- Prince Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office and is denying all claims.
- The investigation includes potential involvement with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
The Thames Valley police, investigating former UK trade envoy Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, may soon travel to the United States to speak with Virginia Giuffre's brother and sister-in-law about her allegations of sexual assault. The family members are currently in contact with detectives who have expressed interest in discussing their sister’s claims.
The investigation is expanding beyond Mountbatten-Windsor's arrest, as the police are also looking into potential connections to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Detective Oliver Wright stated that the misconduct in public office inquiry is ongoing and that they will follow all reasonable lines of inquiry, aiming to explain the scope of their investigation and answer any questions.
Thames Valley police have already sought files from the Metropolitan Police and are expected to interview Mountbatten-Windsor’s former protection officers. The Met had interviewed Giuffre in 2015 regarding her claims of trafficking for sexual exploitation, but did not launch a full investigation due to the lack of criminal conduct allegations against UK-based citizens.
